Automobile Insurance

How to Find Cheap Auto Insurance Rates

Automobile owners often search for ways to find the cheapest auto insurance rates. Many people will be tempted to go with the minimum amounts required by law. While your state likely requires enough coverage to protect you in the event of a small accident, it is still not enough coverage to protect most drivers. Therefore, you should resist this temptation for saving money. There are plenty of other ways to do so.

Amongst the techniques you can put to work right now in saving money on your car insurance are the following:
-Get a wide variety of quotes from different companies serving the state and compare them carefully.
-Ask the agents or brokers if you have received all the possible discounts that the company offers.
-Opt for higher deductibles on your property damage coverage.
In the long run, there are even more things you can do to make sure you get the cheapest car insurance rates possible.
-Maintain an exceptional driving record
-Maintain good credit
-Don’t make frivolous insurance claims
-Make sure there are no gaps in your insurance coverage
-Take driver’s education courses when applicable
-Buy cars that are less expensive to insure
-Drive fewer miles per year
-Live in a low crime area

Short Term Health Insurance

What is Short Term Health Insurance?

When would you ever need short term or temporary health insurance? Well, say that you just graduated from college, you’re in between jobs, or you’re coming off your parents’ health insurance plan for the first time.

Regardless of the reasons, if you’re anticipating access to a permanent health insurance plan in the near future, a short-term plan could be the perfect option to keep you covered in the meantime.

What do short term plans cost?

Short-term health insurance plans are by far the most affordable plans available. You can pay as little as $35 per month for a short term plan. You’ll also find short term coverage offers much lower deductibles as well.

What will be covered?

Like permanent health insurance, you’ll have coverage for many of the medical services you might need. Many short term plans are also indemnity Fee-For-Service plans, which don’t require you to visit specific doctors to keep your coverage.

What are some advantages of short term insurance?

Here are some advantages that come with your temporary short term health insurance plan:

  • Short term coverage can be “in-force” the next day of purchase.
  • Affordable prescription drugs
  • Coverage for lab work, x-rays and ambulance services

Short term health plans are designed to fill in those gaps of coverage your life’s events might throw at you. Luckily short term health insurance provides comprehensive coverage at an affordable rate.

Health Insurance Reform

AARP and Health Care Reform

AARP, a group of senior citizens consisting of over 40 million members has been directing a lot of negative energy, along with withdrawal from the recent health care reform plan in which President Obama has put into action during his presidency.  Over a year ago, AARP had been pro health care, but due to their pro-reform stance along with plans for changing, the memberships have begun to dwindle with the loss of over 60,000 members in the months of July and August.

Kaiser Family foundation has conducted a poll in the month of August which concluded that in the age group of 65+, 23% felt as if the Medicare program would be much more sufficient as opposed to the newer reform scheme. Although there are several groups in opposition for reform, senior citizens have proven to gain the highest voter count and will place a high impact on swaying the changes for reform in the near future.

Under the Medicare Part D plan, in order for senior citizens to receive coverage’s, they must spend $4,350 of their own income, along with the cost of their prescription drugs needing to exceed the $2,700 threshold.  Another positive note for senior citizens, if reform becomes enacted would be the White House deal, which would save drug manufactures over $80 billion dollars and aid citizens by lowering the cost of name-brand drugs 50%. Even with this good news, senior citizens are still skeptical on which side to take with touchy topics such as voluntary end-of-life counseling and whether or not the Democratic Party would be allocating funds to Americans who have absolutely no insurance coverage by taking away funding from Medicare.  AARP’s representative, David Cerner has faith for the new health care reform, as long as they find ways to become more efficient with their cut-backs.  He also noted that most senior citizens would be more comforted if they were aware of the types of cuts that were being made to Medicare.  If the citizens were aware they would be less inclined to have fear and resentment to the changes being made.
